Feluda is the detective I'd pick over Sherlock on a rainy day

On The Complete Adventures of Feluda by Satyajit Ray

Yes, the man who made Pather Panchali also wrote some of the most enjoyable detective stories for young readers in Bengali. Feluda is calm and sharp, his young cousin Topshe tells the stories, and Jatayu, a thriller writer who is hopeless at real danger, makes me laugh every time.

The mysteries are fun, but I mostly love the trips. Each case takes you somewhere new, and you get to wander around old forts and hill towns with them. These translations are good, but if you can read Bangla, the originals are even more of a treat.
