Reading A Thousand Splendid Suns during a hard year
On A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
I think this is better than The Kite Runner, and I know that's not the popular view. It's two women in Kabul across thirty years, stuck in the same house and first hating each other. It is very sad. There are chapters I had to put down and walk away from.
But it isn't hopeless, and that's why I'm recommending it. What these two end up doing for each other has stayed with me more than almost anything I've read. Have tissues nearby.
